Well that is a way to open a can of worms, lots of bike stores along Elizabeth street. As to where people meet then the standard coffee night on Friday is a good place for Netriders. Starting at around 5pm onwards in front of the Bear Brass at Southbank.
Welcome to Netrider, the lunacy starts now.

This................................is my boomstick.
sumoto seemed ok apart from the bloody loud music they had going on in there. What wrong with them?
Dodgy. Sumoto always sounds good to new riders. I'm sure there's some people with a couple of sumoto stories here.
I don't like the way they say something like 2004 ZZR-250, when it actually means a 1993 ZZR-250 which has been complianced to 2004. New riders never know what compliance really means =\, and Sumoto will never tell you. It's a marketing ploy to get you to think you're buying the newest. Sad thing is, it works.
The absolutely best advice is to grab the yellow pages and this list and shop around....you have a pretty steep learning curve ahead of you so don't do what I did and rush into it and if you are going to buy a new bike rather than a used. Then check out the manufacturers websites to find out where thier authorised dealers are.
Also make sure you look at the partners page to make sure you get reasonable deals on gear too.
But yer for a learner bike you are going to get rid of within 15 months just get a second hand one and save some cash for when you are off restrictions and also invest more of your money into full protective gear.

My advice for buying a 250: Use dealers for test rides, but buy privately.
Dealers tend to jump on the fact that learners don't know what to expect from bikes.
However, if you're lucky when going private, you'll find some guy who's upgraded to a real bike and wants to get rid of a perfectly working 250.
Finally, don't get suckered in by the test ride. The compulsion to hand over the cash there and then after your first blast on a good bike is very high...
