So its pissin down rain, Bruce Springsteen singing Born to Run in my ears as I pass Bung, Lost and Flyin and some dork in a doof doof as I hit the bottom corner a touch short of 200. So the front wheel starts to slide, the back wheel starts to slide, mates long gone telling me to stand it up before I'm in the weeds as I settle it down to kick back once more. At home the trip meter is richer by 500 or so kays and me thinks the day is still a puppy, so showered and shaved its off to see a band for a bit of dancing and a bit of?????????. Now home again me thinks youth is truly wasted on the young, and money has nothing to do with being wealthy. Just can't wait till I start getting old. Still feel like I have just borrowed the old mans car to go to the drivein with a lady of lesser values than myself wub.gif So Netriders and QMRF bring on the next one, and look out, for me's a coming. A bloody most excellent day

Hey Kooler was that a hydration pack that u were wearing on Sunday????

Mate was one of them Camel back jobs I got from K Mart for $30. Great bit of gear when theirs a bit of travel to do, and its got one of those Bite end bits on so all you have to do is bite on the end to open the flow thingy to let the juice out. Bloody great bit of gear on a warm day and you don't even know its their. you can get them complete in jackets now if you look around. I know they have them in Larence Drive in Nerang in the joint up from the Motorcycle tyre place

Thanks for the invite on this one Carol. Are you expecting a similar sort of turnout for this ride :?: Compared to the last ride on this thread i mean  I have been lucky enough to have done this ride with the Netrider community previously and imo, is a classic  Will try and lock in next week with a view to meeting up at Milton  cheers...

Bummer, I'll be in Sydney. This is really bizzare, I've had to turn down about 15 different things that are happening over the 23rd/24th Feb now, and I don't really have anything else on any other weekend in Feb... Why is everyone doing something on the 23rd/24th???

carolf_au
16-Feb-2008, 13:31
Oh, Demuire, let me know when you are available in March, we'll work the date so you can come - just not Easter weekend - I'll be shootin' with the Rednecks in the bush!!

Ok, for those of you in the western suburbs, we are meeting at the Shell Redbank/Goodna at 8 - 8.15am to be at Milton BP before 9am.

If it is raining, however, I won't be going - still trying to find the bright yellow wet weather gear Posties seem to favour!!

Probably a similar turn out to the January ride, and there will be a newbie group split for some of the run - I'll be in that group!

See you all there, start doing a "No Rain" dance with me!

Buggarr, the Milton BP is on Milton Road, between Fourex and Lang Park (oh, Suncorp Stadium :? )- there is a McDonalds next door.

Milton Road runs along side the train line.

At this stage, will look at meeting at the BP Milton. If any other Centenary riders are going, please advise and we can meet up for the ride there. Carol, you planning on riding via the M3?
**edit** oops, I mean the M5.

Yes, the old Centenary HWY/Western FWY is called the M5 now. At least it seems to be signed that way recently. Good to see you taking the GPX to Honda for a service :P I'll be dropping mine off around 7.45 and picking her up at around 5. I normally get a 750 Shadow as a loaner. I can meet you guys at the Caltex Sumners Rd if you are heading this way and convenient. Also, I am with you on the weather thing. If its gona rain, sorry but I'll be bailin...

23-Feb-2008, 11:48
Carol, sorry for the confusion. I have been saying the M3. I should have been saying the M5 and yes, this is the Western Freeway. I drove down along there this morning and found an emergency stopping bay just before the Mt Ommaney off ramp (just after the sumners rd on ramp). If you like I can wait there for you. Let me know. You should have got my mobile number pm'd last nite.

23-Feb-2008, 13:54
Buggarr, not sure exactly because it is being organsied by www.twistybitz.net but I would guess upwards of 60 bikes. The ride from Dayboro will be split into 3 groups; Group 1 highly experienced, Group 2 intermediate and Group 3 newbies.

Hope this helps

Your welcome thebigd.

Yeah a pretty good ride. I wa with Group 3 as well. Although I ended up having a little side trip as our leader took off into the distance and I ended up in Lansborough on my own and haviing to come back up from Beerwah.

Hope the 3 that came down out groups 1 and 2 are recovering well.

I got home about 30 mins ago after coming back through Kilcoy, Somerset and Fernvale. About 350km for me.

He was still at the servo getting on his bike and did not arrive at Redroo's until about 20 mins after me. And there was no corner marker at the Bald Knob road, I didn't quite catch which road to take and I sort got lost in the middle by myself and no-one around.

Great day out yesterday!

Dayboro to woodford is my favourite strip of road, the vtr is like a nimble mountain goat climbing those tight cambering corners.

Cheers to all the leaders, tec's and the dude in the polo for your efforts.

Good to meet a few more two wheelers!

So.....er....when/where is the next one??

JuniorVtwin, keep an eye out hear Carol/Cozzi or I will let people know about an upcoming ride (next probably mid-march depending on suitability to some who have expressed interest) otherwise check out some of the other quensland based forums such as QMRF and Brisbane Bikers or any of the others that participated yesterday. Usually one of the groups will have a ride happening.

Glad you enjoyed yourself.

I'd love to join a ride group but I want to get some more miles up first. I've had my bike (my first ever bike) for a week tomorrow !!! Once I run her in I'll see about joining a long ride.

It'd be doubly good for me as I don't know Brisbane too well (I'm from Darwin), so it'd be a good way to have a look around.

Mate the QMRF crew is the one to get started with. They have corner markers on all turnoffs and a tail end Charlie that knows how to do it. They cater for all types of riders and bikes......The run on Saturday will be a great place to start and its heading up North most likely with a stop at the Bike swap meet on Melany???????? just guessing. All the info's on that link that is posted by wyvern

Aussiespur, my first big ride was with the QMRF crew, you've probably read all about it in the previous posts on this thread.

My bike had only done 700k's when I went on this ride, so I kept it nice and easy, stayed near the back and went at my own pace. If you want to meet some great fellow riders, ride some great local roads, and make a few new mates, join the QMRF guys and girls on a ride.

BTW my neighbour moved from Darwin recently, rides an R1 - are Darwinians the new mexicans? :P

wyvern
11-Mar-2008, 16:58
I have to agree with kooler2 and carolf_au about riding with the QMRF crew. Great bunch of people, they really look after new riders and there is no pressure to ride out of your comfort zone. My first group ride was on the one carol mentioned. I had only been on my bike for a month or so. I could not have asked for a better intro to group rides. If you join in you will have a blast, a laugh and one hell of a day.

I just have to see if I can make it.

If you want to see what everyone's like come down to the Stones Corner hotel on Friday night from about 6:30pm and meet everyone. It is a place where lots from different forums get together. Most Friday's there are 40 to 60 bikes parked in the streets around the hotel.

Considering Darwin is north .... perhaps we're the new Canadians ? Just a thought.

This thread came about because alot of us can't get to Stones Corner on Friday nights. The next Sunday Coffee Ride will probably be in April, but be warned - there is every chance the original route will be changed when we stop for Smoko, and a couple of hours ride can end up taking all day!!

Ok, I've called the Moo Moo Cafe, they are open on 13 April, and are expecting around 30-40 bikes for lunch, we just have to give a little bit of notice so they're prepared for us!!

Scott, I know it sounds like a lot of bikes for a group ride, but it will be the same people that came on the January ride, so let the people who are riding near you know that you're new to this and they will keep an eye on you!!!

And you'll need the giant burger to get your meat fix before you go to Japan!!!

Hi there,

I'm new to the world of bikes - have just got one recently and am interested in any rides and meetings where I can meet other riders. Can someone please tell me where and when the next ones might be, and if they're open to anyone (as opposed to Netrider members)? I wasn't sure how current this info on this site is.

Thank you!

Sunday April 13, as stated in the OP.

The only change will be if it rains, I won't be there!!!

Welcome to the new members, look forward to meeting you on a ride.

The Burger Ride is open to all motorcyclists, young and old, new riders and veterans, speedies and slow ones, cruisers and sportsbikes, etc, etc, etc. Newbies, please let us know so we can make your ride more comfortable (just like everyone did for me on the January Ride)

The only person not welcome is my brother, so lucky he's not on any forums!!

Oh come on... black & red wet weather gear must exist somewhere! Admittedly the flames will be hard to match, but you can't have everything

I just wish I could be taking the ride... but my employers have this strange idea that I should be at work if I'm asking them to pay me :(

30-Mar-2008, 18:49
well gee, i HAVE black and red wet weather gear......it doubles as my winter gear.....

and now, thanx to the idiot who stole my gecko helmet, i now have a new silver and black helmet so i'm still kinda co-ordinated.........

kinda.......

well, ok not that much.......

but anyway, look i know i said i'd go to on this ride. and i really do want to. but it's my first long ride back after five (yep FIVE) months off the bike. until then all i'll get in will be the short blats down the road to the train station. so this would be extremely long for me.

so, if there's someone who'd be happy to ride along beside/behind me and keep a really close watch (and be prepared to turn back if i'm getting too mentally tired) then i'd still like to come.

(it IS on a sunday isn't it?????)

This post is like the Friday Stones Corner thread - it's a regular outing, does it need to go on the calendar?? Everyone who's interested seems to find it ok..

there's a few reasons why it might be useful to put each ride in the calendar -

different destinations for each ride therefore is it really just a regular outing,
some people rely on the calendar emails reminders to remind them of rides,
sometimes these general threads get really really long making it hard to keep up with all the specific ride news,
some people only visit the forums to see if there is a new ride (they don't want all the gossip) and tend to check out only the titles - no new title = no new rides in their minds.....
some people only check the calendar entries themselves

some of these points might be relevant particularly for new forum users as well who don't realise that we queenslanders sometimes use the ride announcements differently to some of the other states.

but (unless the other mods remind me otherwise) i guess it's really up to you....

02-Apr-2008, 18:24
Gashde, not sure on the cost you would have to work out how far you get on a tank and bank on maybe 2 or 3 tanks plus eats and drink.
There will be lots heading all over the place so some will be heading to Brisbane at the end. You might have some sidetracks if you travel with a few others....lol

Carol will do.

Does everyone realise that this will be the first weekend of the NSW School Holidays. So they may have double demerits and double fines for speeding, so I don't think many would be going flat out. Myself I tend to sit at 100km/h.

kezza01
02-Apr-2008, 19:30
if i'm there, i'll definitely be heading back to brissie north side gashde, happy to ride back with you.....

as for cost, from experience the main costs are fuel and food. fuel depends on how far you get on a tank, me being on a virago means i have to refuel more than most i've ridden with (about every 125kms just for peace of mind).

and i have only once in the last year and a bit managed to get enough confidence up to go any faster than 100 so it is most unlikely that i'd be near the front of the pack anyway :)

tanyathecheeky
02-Apr-2008, 19:56
It's going to be about a two tank ride, budget $30-40 for fuel

I get around 350k's a tank on my GPX, but plan on 2 tanks like suggested by TTC and Wyvern. Lunch should be $15 - $20, depending on what you have, plus anything you have at Two Pines.

I'm not sure, i was going to try and avoid it, 90km/h in a 100km/h zone isn't fun at all. But google maps says its going to take me an hour and a half to get there avoiding the highway, so I'm not sure.

carolf_au
03-Apr-2008, 10:41
I think I'll be going down the Logan Motorway, onto the M1. Unless Wyvern has a quicker way!

Usually takes around 40-50 minutes in the car to get to the Drive-In from Collingwood Park. Google Maps over-estimates the time - I'd take 30 minutes off the trip time.

Gashde

I ride a 225cc dirt bike. She doesn't like riding at over 90km/h for any extended period of time.

I really need to change the sprockets on it to give it more uptop since it doesn't really see the dirt often and she lifts the front too easily in first anyway.

Slade90
03-Apr-2008, 18:34
In NSW there is a Max Speed of 90KMs on your Red Ps. when your on your Ls, you do 80. its extremly dangourous, in a 110 zone thats 30Kms under the speed limit, you get run of the road. but most the roads where i am are only 90 anyway. except the freeway.

with bikes, it take 1yr 3Months to get your full licence, 2 practical tests, witch i like, learnt many skills.and a writin test, then after having your Ps for one yr, you just renew it and you have your full licence. weeeeeeeeeeee

but with car over 4 years to get your full licence, first 1 yr on Ls, 1 yr on Ps, also 90kms max, Then green Ps for 2 YEARS!!!!, and a max of 100ks then, then you can then move to your full licence. its insane.

Hi there,

Great to see the April ride is going ahead, but I was wondering what time the ride finishes? It's just that I have to be back by 1pm on north side, and I figure because lunch is at the MooMoo Cafe I can't make the ride, but it would be great to know typical start/finish times for these things for the future. I am dying to go on one of these rides and meet some people, but I can't seem to make the rides recently, so this way I can plan ahead and block out my diary!

Also I was wondering if anyone recommends any of the bike clubs as a member (as opposed to forum member). I was looking at Netrider as a member, possibly the Motorcyle Riders Association or the Motorcycle Assosication of Australia. I know it seems silly to ask this on a Netrider forum but you never know what feedback you'll get!

Thanks :)

Is it a bad idea to try and do this ride on a dirt bike thats going to max out between 90 and 100km/h?

I've just spent the majority of this weekend doing basic maintance and getting everything working and I found out the sprockets on my bike aren't what the previous owner told me. He told me they were 14/45 and with a swap up to 16/45 the bike would be alot better on the highway. Turns out there's 17/45 on the bike, swaping down to 16/45 would give me a little more power and higher revs at 100km/h but I doubt it would do enough to make the bike ride able for long periods of time at 100.

I'm really unsure about trying to do any sort of distance on this bike and I'm considering sitting this one out.

Cool. I'll confirm later in the week once I know work/home life aren't going to get in the way. As for the bridge, I was in the habit of having a bulldog clip with a bank change bag with the toll amount in it attached somewhere behind my screen. I'd stop, hand over the bag (no stuffing around with gloves and change) and off I'd go. Means a little bit of preparation, but that's part of being a rider eh? Solved that problem recently anyway, and got an EToll transponder.

As for time, we'd probably need an hour and a half? That's probably too much, but I like to be a little early rather than a liile late :P No probs with leaving from your place either.

That's probably too much, but I like to be a little early rather than a liile late :P No probs with leaving from your place either.
nice solution for the bridge - but i don't have a screen....still i reckon i could give it a go. i guess i just have to worry bout the wind on the way up and over? and how much is the toll? i dont go over the bridge very often at all.....

and i agree about the 1.5 hours - that was what i was planning cause i like being there in plenty of time....

btw - i probly won't do the whole ride - will just take it as it comes on the day :)

TOLLS ARE SIMPLE. You stop bike. You get off bike. You take off gloves. You walk up to toll booth. You slip toll booth Chic/Dude the biggest note you have. You get receipt. You walk back to bike. You slip gloves back on. make the typical adjust. You get on bike. make the typical adjust. You start bike up. let it idle a bit. and then cruise off  I do it every time and the toll booth dudes love it. HATE TOLLS

Hey Kezza yes that sounds great, I am hoping to be back by 12:45 for something at 1pm. Where are you northside, PM me if you want but I can't PM back when I have newbie status (apparently). Maybe send me your number and we can find a place/time to meet before?

Kooler, thanks for the info - will keep that in mind.

With the tolls, I was a bit freaked but went on the Gateway toll 2 weeks after I got my license, it's not too bad unless you pick a really windy day. I just throw the $1.20 into my jeans pocket so it's quick/easy to get out, gloves and all. The only thing is don't bother with the auto machines that count your money - first time I stopped at the booth and when I asked, they said the machines can tell you're on a bike (it counts tyres?!). Next time I went to the machine and it could NOT tell I was on a bike, but a toll person ran out and changed the price manually somehow - lucky for me it was quiet that time and they could do that because all I had was the $1.20! :?

A good thing for TOLLS if you don't want to stop is Blue Tak stuck to the tank (Comes off real easy and no marks) Just stick the coin to it. Just make sure you can get it off with gloves on. So stick the coin in the Blue Tac on its edge.

HI Guys

I'm new to Brisbane, new to riding (sorta) and new to netrider (first post).

I just bought myself a new VTR250 a couple of weeks ago.

Being a big fan of a decent burger, this ride sounds like a great idea for a number of reasons, however I have only put 100km's on my new bike. I was told to ride it "normally" for first 1000km's... just don't rev the hell out of it.

Is it a good idea to take a brand new bike on this kind of ride?

Also, before picking this bike up a couple of week ago, I hadn't ridden for 10 years, and the majority of that was trail riding...... so I'm very much in plod along slowly and take everything easy mode at the moment..... I assume there will still be people in similar positions / experience?

Did I read a post that there was a couple of other people from Brisbane north side going along? What time were you guys heading off?

cheers,

Warwick / wazza

i can just see it now. of course, i'd end up doing something real stoopid like drop my bike as i'm getting on (did that in my own driveway last week - what IS it with me and driveways?????????????????????)

wazza, not too sure what time we'll be leaving kallangur area and we were planning on heading down the motorway which means we wouldn't necessarily go into nundah sorry, but maybe grofaz would be ok to head down a slightly different way. i'll let you know :)

we'd be leaving here about 1.5 hours before the meet time.

HI wazza,
Welcome aboard.
The group that will be going on the ride are newbie friendly and on the last few rides there have been some new bikes.

Just pick your own speed, you wont be left behind as there is always a TEC (tail end charlie - they will not ride past the last in line) there will also be corner markers. There are a few of us that arte new/relativley new to riding and stick to the speed limit. This is a sensible group and a really good intro into group rides.

On the point of tolls, Kooler's idea of the blue tack works a treat. Just go through a change given booth to avoid getting stuck at the exact change booths because you have not put enough in for a car when your on a bike.

Thanks for the info guys, sounds like alot of fun, I'm definately in if it's good weather.

As for meeting up.... I'm about 2 mins away from the Toombul Rd exit off the M1..... so it would be fairly easy to meet you guys at the big on / off ramp roundabout which should be fairly quiet on a sunday morning.

Keep me posted

I hope my new pipe arrives this week ;-)

Ok, I've called the Moo Moo Cafe, they are open on 13 April, and are expecting around 30-40 bikes for lunch, we just have to give a little bit of notice so they're prepared for us!!!Thanks Carol, I'm just about locked in for this one. that'd be marvellous for me bigd....i'm really not too sure how far i'll go - although lilymunster wants to be back in nth-side brissie early too and i said i'd ride back then. it all really depends on how i go on the day -- new helmet, new gloves, and only about 30mins riding in six months -- i'm still trying to get comfortable again.

Nice to see people are still out and about.

I have only just noticed this ride taking place, I will need to consider it myself. I haven't been for a nice tour on the bike in a little while. Having said that I ride it every day as transport so it would be nice to get back to something a little less hectic and fun.

Well, the QMRF tally is around 25 bikes, plus a few more on here, so it's looking to be a nice day out!

If you are coming from Ipswich direction, Wyvern and I will be at the Shell Redbank/Goodna by 8am to ride to Yatala - takes around 30 minutes on the Logan Mwy.

If you are coming from the North Side see Kezza's posts for meeting places.

We aim to be at Yatala by 8.30am to leave by 9am. TEC and corner markers will be pointed out at Yatala BP.

Thanks for joining in on this ride, I hope everyone has a pleasant day, with no revenue raising  ! New riders, please speak up and let others know who you are - I did this on the last ride, was given plenty of room, and a few tips to help me improve!

See y'all Sunday!

hmmmm, i'm just thinking, i'm gunna have to probably head from my place at kallangur about 7am rather than 7.30.....

i want to allow time for me to ride slow and negotiate that toll plaza.

so, wazza, say it takes me 30mins to get to the toombul road roundabout - that means i could pick you up at the "on-ramp" side about then. i'll come off the motorway and meet you at the roundabout. i ride a virago 250 cruiser.....

lilymunster, whereabouts on the northside are you?

anyways, i can confirm all this on saturday if you like. i'll pm my email and mobile number tomorrow night.

In response to Carolf's post, I am a newbie too. I have only done 600kms on my bike and although getting better I am a bit green still. By dealer didn't say anything about how to ride the first 1000kms but then they didn't tell me anything so I'm not impressed! But would really appreciate tips from experienced riders.

Wazzac, I am 1 min from you - so I will meet you at 7:30 and we will meet Kezza and Grofaz there? (I can't believe I am going to be up before 10 on a Sunday!). Then anyone nearby can join us. I never go through the Toombul Rd exit so I'll be the one wobbling around the roundabout on the Yamaha Fazer, wondering where to stop! If by some miracle I get there first, is the on-ramp halfway from coming off the Gateway just before you go straight back on the Gateway - I hope so, that would save us some hassle! Kezza has my number if you need to get me.

I suggested to Kezza maybe going through the Valley/Story Bridge on to the M1 at Kangaroo Point as that's my short cut that is pretty easy and the fastest, and no windy tolls. How does that sound, Kezza?

It sounds like Kezza and I will leave by noon so anyone wanting to come back with us early is welcome, the more visible the better! If it rains I have to warn I will chicken out with Kezza

Hi Lily

No worries, will PM you my contact details.

I also will be bailing out if the weather looks dubious.

As for the exit roundabout.... it's one of those huge jobs..... if you coming south on the M1 and take Toombul Rd exit slip rd.... just ride straight ahead and you come to the giant (quiet) roundabout .... you just ride straight ahead through the roundabout to go back onto the M1 .... so when you reach the roundabout just look for somewhere to pull over to the side.

And 600km's is plenty of experience.... I've only done 100.... and probably have a bunch of bad habits leftover from trail riding and a 10 year hiatus.

cheers

just for us rain-fearing northsiders.....i'm told that there should be at most light showers on sunday.....sometime.....not early morning.....(and no, my sources don't work at the bureau tossing coins and forgetting to look out the window)

and the roundabout is usually a nice quiet one - gentle curve. i'll meet you on the "heading back onto the motorway" side. at this stage grofaz and still planning to be with us so we should be fine.

the way through the valley/story bridge is one i'm quite familiar with and comfortable with. it'll give me plenty of practise stopping at lights. and we can (mostly) keep in the left hand lane if we want to so that we don't hold up anyone who wants to go faster than us....

we'll see how far lilymunster and i go. and i believe bigd has kindly offered that if we need he could shepherd us back as far as the mt gravatt area. from there i know my way home and have done it before quite ok.

i just have to remind people that i will need more fuel stops that most of you since i only get a maximum of around 150kms on my little virago :)

Hehe, well Kezza, I made it the whole way…. But I’m not sure having a get-off in front of 30 other riders constitutes a safe trip….. but we live, get embarrassed and learn.

For anyone wondering what happened, when coming down round the last corner instead of watching where I was going I had my head over my shoulder looking to see if anyone had an indicator on…. When I turned back I wasn’t quite on course, grabbed some front as well as rear brake…. And promptly found myself on my ass.

Luckily both the bike and I were relatively unscathed (although I’m sure I’ll be feeling it in my shoulder tomorrow)

Thanks to everyone for your help/concern but not making a fuss…….

Thanks for riding with me and keeping me company grofaz !!!

I wondered what had happened I left murwullumbah following a Red fireblade, I think it was Richard. And by the time I got to the highway he was loooooong gone so I coasted along at 80 waiting for someone to catch up so I could be sure I was going to right way. No one caught up so I turned around and 10 seconds later you guys headed past, so I turned around again and when I caught up everyone was stopped on the side of the road with some girl who looked pretty upset and I assumed someone must have had an off.

I had a great day out and the little chook didn't miss a beat, I even managed to passed carol twice :P .

I've got my Q-ride test in a week and hopefully I'll be on a 600 by the time the next rides on.

Cutting and pasting this from QMRF before my wireless connection cuts out again!!!

You know what, guys and gals?? I am sitting here with a huge grin on my face reading what all you guys have written about the ride

It's a wonderful feeling, to know I suggested to ride across the border for a hamburger and fifty or so people turned up! And then to find out the next day that everyone had a FANTASTIC time!!! Thank you all EVERYONE SINGLE ONE OF YOU who came to Mooball - it's a great little blip on the GPS that I visit whenever I'm down that way, just to see all the cow print! And now I have a fantastic day out with some new friends to remember and brag about!

I have to thank my husband Paul, for staying home with the kids while I went for a ride - it had to happen sooner or later - I prefered sooner!! And for pushing my bike into the garage, I was hammered!!

Thank you Gavin (Wyvern) - you are now officially my "Ride Buddy" and it's comforting on those unfamiliar roads to know you are happy to sit behind at my pace, get lost with me, change lanes and make a safe space for me in front, and catch up to wave SeeYa, even when I left you at the lights But next time it's your turn to set the pace!!!

Incy Wincy Spyder is the best Jane, and thank you both for being TEC, and Bug for leading - I told you I had no idea which way to go!! Lovely to see so many Blackbirds together!

I'm so glad you all had such a great day! Bring on the next one!!!

Carol

Wazza, so good to know that you're ok after the off - I heard a crunch behind me, saw others start running and hoped to god you were ok and that I wasn't the reason for it!! I love saying I told you so. See no one ran out of petrol, no one was left belong, and everything was so kool  Yeah and I passed ????Carol and Vern, but they never told everyone they were stopped  Myself and Rosanne Marie had a ball as always, somewhere near 40 riders and their pillions. For those interested the QMRF crew has a weekend away this weekend going to the drive in so check em out if you want another great time

Luckily both the bike and I were relatively unscathed (although I’m sure I’ll be feeling it in my shoulder tomorrow)

If you need me to swing by and have a look at it after work during the week let me know.

Sad... brand new bike :*(

Mate, sorry for the delayed reply, have been busy entertaining. I wouldn't want to put you out, but if it's not to inconvenient I would greatly appreciate someone casting an experienced eye over my poor baby.

I don't have enough posts up to initiate a pm, but if you send one I can give you my detail or give you a call. Thanks vey much for the offer.

cheers

Hopefully the next ride won’t be quite as eventful

Cheers

Warwick

Mate, I must admit you had me worried for a sec there when you locked the front tyre. Once the horrible crunching noise stopped and I saw you were ok and the bike only seemed cosmetically damaged I was all grins though! I kept my helmet on so you (and the 50 odd onlookers) wouldn't notice. I'm sure you'll see the funny side of it now, but at`the time probably not so much.

Oh, and sorry for ditching you just south (I think it was about there) of the Gateway Bridge. I noticed you had dropped back a bit, so slowed up to maintain contact, and realised the bike I had been keeping in my mirror was someone else :P

Anyway, at least we have the memories of the burger. Mmm. And next ride I will make sure I am more organised so I don't spend the whole day thinking "Damn I should be home doing yard/cleaning house etc" and heading home so soon.

I also vow to make a bigger effort to meet my fellow Netriders :)

carolf_au
16-Apr-2008, 23:45
Warwick, hope your bike is ok.

Col, come to Stones Corner on Friday night and meet some more Netriders, and ask Bugshifter about the GPS set-up (Blackbird with a tow-ball).

Start thinking of a Northside Ride for sometime in July - I'm thinking Sunday the 13th  Well, the last two rides I've planned have been on the 13th, so I thought I'd stay with that theme! And I'm pretty busy between now and then!

So keep an eye out for a place for lunch - that can cater for 30 - 50 people, and somewhere on the way that makes GOOD coffee!!!

Catch you all on a ride soon!!!

carolf_au
16-Apr-2008, 23:48
Ummmm, checked the Calendar, and the Superbikes are at Willowbank July 10-13, so I'll be riding out to Qld Raceway!!

We'll have to re-think the date - suggestions please!!

If im still around in july i might do control on a ride northside.

No promises this far out, my enthusiasm waxes and wanes.

carolf_au
17-Apr-2008, 08:52
Thanks for that Dirty Trix, would appreciate imput if you're keen closer to the date.

I haven't hit the Northside, so, like last Sunday, I'll just set a date and ask the more experienced riders to lead the pack. But I am willing to research lunch venues between now and then!!!

mid july is out for me (i'm winging off os again - it's a hard life but someone's gotta do it).

but i am happy for people to join me on my ride out esk-way on the saturday of the june queen's birthday long weekend - nope, you all don't have to stay overnight at the campsite but i definitely will be.

at this stage, there will definitely be fireplace available, and once we know how many bikes might be coming, we'll be sure to mow sufficient parking spaces.

and who knows, by then we might even have the makings of a pizza oven, paved entertainment area, bbq pits, yurts, and home-grown vegies.........

kezza01
17-Apr-2008, 13:11
oh yeah, and provided we have enough advanced warning, we could almost guarantee sufficient home brew to keep all entertained

Hey everyone, I know I'm a bit slow to respond but thanks for a great Sunday morning at least. Was great to put a face to some of the names, and have to say Kezza and DT were fantastic at keeping an eye out on us newbies. Mt Tamborine was great practice, thanks for leading us DT.

Wazzac, I didn't realise your incident was that bad. Good to hear all is good though. LOL@Grofaz for keeping an eye on the wrong bike, heading home!

A northside ride sounds great but late June or late July would be better I think since there is so much happening early July? There should be heaps of great places around the start of the Sunshine Coast for food and coffee unless we want to head inland? And that is so far away, Kezza what is this EOI thread? Wasn't sure where to find it!

kezza01
18-Apr-2008, 10:46
hmmmm, guess i musta violated one of the terms and conditions (slightly embarassing for a mod i know - sorry guys....   ).

I've posted a new EOI thread in the rides and events planner.

http://www.netrider.net.au/forums/viewtopic.php?p=792419#792419

The date itself is set, i will be riding anyway, but i can be very flexible about exactly which route we take to get there.....

anyways, as i said, some advance warning will help us ensure we've got a nice clear space mowed and perhaps some homebrew :)

hey there demuire, i'm not sure where the weekly friday night meets are happening around brissie now. there is another thread which might help you - i think there's still a group around west end somewhere and there might also still be some who meet at milton.

but cause i'm usually heading out to the property on a friday night i don't get to the meets at all now :(
